ESANZ Representation on the ASAR Stakeholders Committee

11 October 2026

The Echocardiographic Society of Australia and New Zealand (ESANZ) will be represented on the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR) Stakeholders Committee.

The relationship between ESANZ and ASAR is an important recognition of the role ESANZ plays in supporting excellence in cardiac ultrasound practice, education, and professional standards across Australia and New Zealand.

As a member of the ASAR Stakeholders Committee, ESANZ contributes directly to discussions that influence the ongoing development of sonographer accreditation, professional standards, workforce capability, and continuing professional development (CPD) requirements. This representation ensures that the unique perspectives and needs of cardiac sonographers are considered within the broader sonography profession.

The appointment of the ESANZ Sonographers Committee Leader as the ESANZ representative on the ASAR Stakeholders Committee further strengthens this connection, providing a direct pathway for collaboration between the two organisations. This enables ESANZ to contribute expert discipline-specific knowledge and advocate for high standards of echocardiography education, training, and clinical practice.

Importantly, ASAR's recognition of ESANZ educational activities as approved CPD demonstrates the confidence placed in the quality and relevance of ESANZ's professional offerings. This recognition reinforces ESANZ's position as a leading provider of high-quality education and professional development for cardiac sonographers and highlights its contribution to maintaining an appropriately skilled and competent workforce.

Together, ESANZ's involvement within the ASAR stakeholder framework and the recognition of ESANZ CPD activities reflect the organisation's significance within the Australian sonography landscape. They acknowledge ESANZ as a respected professional body whose expertise helps shape the future of cardiac ultrasound practice and supports the ongoing development of the sonography profession.
