Dr Gillian Whalley

Dr Gillian Whalley is a highly experienced Cardiac Sonographer and internationally respected Clinical Researcher with over 40 years in echocardiography and over 30 years in clinical research. She is currently a Professor at the Dunedin School of Medicine, Otago University, New Zealand as well as working as a clinical Sonographer. She has published more than 200 scientific publications related to echocardiography research.She is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) and has served in many leadership roles including and been an active researcher:
- Current International Board Member, American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) Foundation Board as well as past member of the FASE membership committee and ASE Social Media Committee.
- Current Board Member, Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine.
- Previous Board Member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand
- Editor in Chief, Journal of The Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (AJUM) since 2021
- Editor, Echoes Quarterly Newsletter, World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine (since 2025)
