Dr Myo ( Mona) Lwin

Dr Lwin is a Cardiologist with subspecialty expertise in Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) and ACHD Echocardiography, including advanced perioperative and structural imaging for ACHD structural intervention.Her clinical practice focuses on the management of adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD), including aortopathy, ACHD pulmonary hypertension, and pregnancy cardiology.
After completion of adult cardiology training in Australia, Dr Lwin pursued international subspecialty training in the United Kingdom. She completed a Fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, followed by a Fellowship in ACHD Echocardiography perioperative/Periprocedural Transoesophageal Echocardiography at the Royal Brompton Hospital, part of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust.
Dr Lwin subsequently worked for four years as a Consultant Cardiologist in Adult Congenital Heart Disease within the NHS, at both University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust and Barts Health NHS Trust. During this time, she held several leadership roles, including:
- Leading the ACHD Echocardiography Service at Barts Health NHS Trust
- Leading the ACHD Transition Service in partnership with Great Ormond Street Children Hospital in London
- Leading the ACHD Pulmonary Hypertension Service and co-leading the Pregnancy Cardiology Service at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Dr Lwin is passionate about ACHD education and teaching, having presented at international, national, and regional conferences, and successfully organising the annual ACHD echocardiography course during her time at Barts Health NHS Trust. She is deeply committed to advancing ACHD services and education in Australia, recognising the rapidly growing ACHD population.
